The reassessment of an already known epigraphic document from Aquinum, containing the name of the deity ‘Pupluna’, otherwise mostly attested in Teanum Sidicinum, leads to reflections on Sidicinian presence in the Liri Valley, which recent archaeological finds in the area of Aquinum seem to confirm. The nature of Pupluna as an ethnic cult of the Sidicini, settled in Aquinum by Sidicinian occupants, also seems to be indirectly confirmed by a late provincial inscription with a dedication to Iuno Populonia, ‘goddess of the homeland’, whose author was in all likelihood originally from Aquinum.

Abstract
The reassessment of an already known epigraphic document from Aquinum, containing the name of the deity ‘Pupluna’, otherwise mostly attested in Teanum Sidicinum, leads to reflections on Sidicinian presence in the Liri Valley, which recent archaeological finds in the area of Aquinum seem to confirm. The nature of Pupluna as an ethnic cult of the Sidicini, settled in Aquinum by Sidicinian occupants, also seems to be indirectly confirmed by a late provincial inscription with a dedication to Iuno Populonia, ‘goddess of the homeland’, whose author was in all likelihood originally from Aquinum.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
