We propose to explore the construction of the three female figures who take centre stage in El piadoso veneciano, Lope de Vega’s novelistic drama, as characters intrinsic to the macro- and microgeneric hybridisation of the play. In the process of transforming the hypotext (novella I,5 of Giraldi Cinzio’s Gli Ecatommiti), all three acquire greater weight in comparison with the Giraldian plot, participating actively in a dramatic articulation that interweaves, at the macrogeneric level, the happy-ending tragedy with comedy, and, at the microgeneric level, novelistic material with pastoral and urban dimensions.

Nos proponemos explorar la construcción de las tres figuras femeninas que protagonizan El piadoso veneciano, drama novelesco de Lope de Vega, como personajes consustanciales para la hibridación macro y microgenérica en esta pieza. En el proceso de alteración del hipotexto (la novella I,5 de Gli Ecatommiti de Giraldi Cinzio), las tres vienen adquiriendo un peso mayor frente a la trama giraldiana, participando activamente de una articulación dramática que entrecruza, a nivel macrogenérico, la tragedia de final feliz con la comedia y, a nivel microgenérico, la materia novelesca con la dimensión pastoril y urbana.
