With the introduction of the communicative method into German as a Foreign Language (GFL) didactics, dictionaries have played an increasingly minor role. Even the digital transformation of the medium, which has been underway for years, does not seem to be improving the situation. On the contrary. It looks more as if working with online lexicographical resources has never found its way into GFL lessons. There is little empirical research on what actually happens in the classroom and even this is losing its validity due to the rapidly changing medium. This article attempts to use an exemplary analysis of various GFL textbooks to gain a small insight into whether lexicographical online resources, or other resources used by the learners, are integrated into today's activity-orientated and digital GFL lessons, what kind of lexicographical resources are used, what kind of task formats there are and what goals are associated with their use. Results will be presented and then discussed from a lexicographical and didactic perspective.
