Formati sintagmatici predicativi tra sintassi, semantica e tipologia

This paper focuses on two predicative multiword having the patterns [Prep + VINF] or [Prep + NDEVB], which can co-occur with both adjectives and nouns (e.g. facile a dirsi ‘easy to say’/ difficile a farsi ‘tough to do’; libro da leggere ‘book to read’ / pizza da asporto ‘takeaway pizza’). Starting with the patterns [facile a + VINF] and [facile da + VINF] (‘[easy to + VINF]’), their nature as Tough constructions is analysed first. They are then considered as complex predicates, which allows for a unified treatment of the pattern [da + VINF] and its modal semantics. Finally, modality is considered as a distinctive feature of the infinitive compared to deverbal nouns, also taking into account the non-finite forms of the Latin verb that have merged into the Italian infinitive.

Il contributo verte su due formati sintagmatici predicativi, costituiti dai pattern [Prep + VINF] o [Prep + NDEVB], che possono unirsi sia a un aggettivo sia a un nome (ess. facile a dirsi / difficile a farsi; libro da leggere / pizza da asporto). Partendo dai formati [facile a + VINF] e [facile da + VINF], se ne esamina la natura di Tough constructions e se ne propone una considerazione come predicati complessi che permette un trattamento unitario del pattern [da + VINF] e della sua semantica modale. La modalità viene, infine, considerata come tratto distintivo dell’infinito rispetto ai nomi deverbali, tenendo presenti anche le forme non finite del verbo latino che sono confluite nell’infinito italiano.
