The aim of this chapter is to discuss whether today’s sciences of the mind really do provide theories, methods and data useful for freeing psychiatry from its ambiguous status, attributable to its composite nature, participating in both the biological and human sciences, straddling the interpersonal and the personal, the social and the individual. In doing so, the chapter attempts to provide the readers with a compass to orient themselves in the dense tangle of concepts and ideas generated by the interaction between psychiatry and the cognitive sciences.

Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to discuss whether today’s sciences of the mind really do provide theories, methods and data useful for freeing psychiatry from its ambiguous status, attributable to its composite nature, participating in both the biological and human sciences, straddling the interpersonal and the personal, the social and the individual. In doing so, the chapter attempts to provide the readers with a compass to orient themselves in the dense tangle of concepts and ideas generated by the interaction between psychiatry and the cognitive sciences.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
