The growing emphasis on inclusive societies has led to a greater focus on the social inclusion of LGBT individuals, particularly through legal rights. This paper examines the evolution of LGBT legal protections by analysing the Global Index on Legal Recognition of Homosexual Orientation across countries, using a Functional Data Analysis approach. The Modified Hypograph Index and the Weighted Integrated First Derivative are applied to assess both the level of legal protections and their changes over time. The analysis provides a comprehensive overview of how countries are progressing in recognizing LGBT rights. The findings are useful for policymakers to identify areas of progress, stagnation, or decline, and ensure ongoing efforts to safeguard LGBT rights. This approach underscores the dynamic nature of legal reforms and offers insights into factors influencing LGBT inclusion globally.
