Continuum Communalis is a free-improvised performance of approximately 30 minutes for a medium-size ensemble of 11 performers, including the conductor. Description and methodology are closely intertwined in this project, as any account of the work can only be formulated a posteriori due to its highly open and freely improvisatory character. The methodological core of the project lay in a series of rehearsals during the residency period, in which co-creation and horizontality were explicitly placed at the centre of the process.

Abstract

Continuum Communalis is a free-improvised performance of approximately 30 minutes for a medium-size ensemble of 11 performers, including the conductor. Description and methodology are closely intertwined in this project, as any account of the work can only be formulated a posteriori due to its highly open and freely improvisatory character. The methodological core of the project lay in a series of rehearsals during the residency period, in which co-creation and horizontality were explicitly placed at the centre of the process.
