Garegnani e la critica della funzione “surrogata” della produzione

This chapter aims to reconstruct the path that led to the publication of Garegnani's article (1970a) “Heterogeneous Capital, the Production Function and the Theory of Distribution”. We will begin with the first draft of the note written by Garegnani in the winter of 1961-62 as a critique of Samuelson's (1962) article on the “surrogate” function of production. We will then follow the complicated editorial history of the article, which was submitted to Review of Economic Studies for the first time in 1963; resubmitted in a second version in 1964; and then in a third and extended version in 1968, before finally being published in 1970.

Il capitolo è finalizzato alla ricostruzione del percorso che ha condotto alla pubblicazione dell’articolo di Garegnani (1970a) “Heterogeneous Capital, the Production Function and the Theory of Distribution.” Inizieremo dalla prima stesura della nota scritta da Garegnani, nell’inverno 1961-62, come critica dell’articolo di Samuelson (1962) sulla funzione “surrogata” della produzione. Quindi seguiremo la complicata vicenda editoriale dell’articolo, sottoposto a Review of Economic Studies per la prima volta nella primavera del 1963; poi sopposto in una seconda versione nel 1964; e in una terza ed estesa versione nel 1968, per essere infine pubblicato nel 1970.
