The essay wants to give a historical-critical prophile’s of Vincenzo Fasolo (Split 1885 - Rome 1969), as part of his work as an architect, architectural historian and professor of Storia e stili dell’architettura (History of Architecture and Architectural styles from 1925 to 1961). The text includes a cognitive process of drawings, who represented the guidelines to understand the theories of the thinning out of the building and residential devolution discussed in Rome in the early decades of the XX century. The Fasolo’s teaching and professional experience is defined, through the theories and knowledge of the architectural history, also conveyed by a unique versatility for the drafting, seen as an essential tool for analysis and description. The graphic capabilities define the design path of Vincenzo Fasolo, in respect to urban design to minimize the difference between the historic city centre and suburbs, recognizing in the study of architectural styles (in their various manifestation, linked to local art and time) the centre of a culture historiographical and projectual, aimed at establishing an evolutionary code for the design.
