From an Augustinian text (quaest. hept. 7,56) we can know how misleading can be the denomination "indirect Christianism". Explaining the biblical idiomatism "occurrere" with dative, only Augustine records, as alternative to standard word "occidere", the verb "alleuare", peculiar to military jargon, and "compendiare" with dative: that is explained as idiomatic vulgarism, which Augustine points out in his expression "uulgo apud nos".
