The phi-meson leptonic widths, Gamma(ee) and Gamma(mumu), are obtained, respectively, from the (e)+(-)(e) forward-backward asymmetry and the mu(+)mu(-) cross section around the phi-mass energy. We find Gamma(ee) = 1.32 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.03 keV and rootGamma(ee) Gamma(mumu)= 1.320 +/- 0.018 +/- 0.017 keV. These results, compatible with Gamma(ee) = Gamma(mumu), provide a precise test of lepton universality. Combining the two results gives Gamma(ee) (phi) = 1.320 +/- 0.023 keV. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V. Abstract
