The National Rally of the alpini (Italian mountain troops) A major event between local economy and urban territory dynamics Initiated as small commemorative gathering in 1920, the N. R. of alpini has become the largest annual and travelling public event taking place in Italy. It allows the host location to promote its own territory, trying to seduce the visitors and (re)give some economic impetus to local institutions and businesses. The candidacies to host the rally reflect the territorial marketing strategies: the more they are clearly identified, the more successful is the event and the biggest is the medium term economic impact.
