In the dedication to Marino included at the forefront of his play Virtud, pobreza y mujer, published in 1625 as part of his volume Parte XX, Lope de Vega reactivates elements of the controversy over Góngora’s style that are present in other dedications included in the same volume, which he does by using Marino against Góngora. Within this context, this dedication also allows for a connection between Lope’s play and Góngora’s Las firmezas de Isabela. Theatrical controversy and the controversy on poetical language are therefore interwoven around a common reflection on style.

Abstract
In the dedication to Marino included at the forefront of his play Virtud, pobreza y mujer, published in 1625 as part of his volume Parte XX, Lope de Vega reactivates elements of the controversy over Góngora’s style that are present in other dedications included in the same volume, which he does by using Marino against Góngora. Within this context, this dedication also allows for a connection between Lope’s play and Góngora’s Las firmezas de Isabela. Theatrical controversy and the controversy on poetical language are therefore interwoven around a common reflection on style.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
