The performance of spaceborne instruments based on synthetic aperture interferometric radiometry, which have been proposed in recent years for microwave passive imaging applications, is reviewed. The main focus is on the improvement of the radiometric resolution obtained through the so-called technique of baseline redundancy, which is achieved through appropriate positioning of antenna elements over the geometrical antenna array configuration.

Abstract

The performance of spaceborne instruments based on synthetic aperture interferometric radiometry, which have been proposed in recent years for microwave passive imaging applications, is reviewed. The main focus is on the improvement of the radiometric resolution obtained through the so-called technique of baseline redundancy, which is achieved through appropriate positioning of antenna elements over the geometrical antenna array configuration.
