Abstract
Of all the arts, the cinema only has the ability to record the movement and the passage of time, what Bergson called the durée. The article discusses this issue at the heart of Bazin’s thought, focusing on film by Henri-Georges Clouzot Le mystére Picasso. This film, which shows the artist at work, while he paints his pictures, is proposed as an important example of a particular alliance between cinema and painting. The film, in fact, can reveal the many layers of the painting and the processes of painting, thanks to its mechanical nature. Another crucial aspect that emerges looking at Picasso's work is the unpredictability of artistic creation, not only theorized by Bazin, but also by Deleuze in his book on Francis Bacon.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
