Sopravvivenza dei distretti industriali tra declino e resilienza: Il caso della Valle del Liri

This paper, relying of the traditional tools offered by the literature on industrial districts, investigates the structural characteristics that distinguish the district system of the Liri Valley, in order to identify the existence or persistence of mechanisms that govern the production of external economies of area. Secondly, in an attempt to understand the nature and the evolutionary trajectories followed by the district system, the analysis leaves the approach of the local development theories and adopts a dynamic analysis offered by studies of strategic management. This approach uses a neo-institutional perspective of endogenous development as well as a market driven perspective.
