The article deals with the question of envy, the sad passion for excellence, and connects it to the experience of film spectatorship, denying the possibility of a envious spectator. The chance of this connection passes through two assumptions: first, the link, not only etymological, between envy and vision, that in the thought of Jacques Lacan necessarily leads to the theme of narcissism; secondly, the identification between spectator and character, that wears the mask of “ego ideal”.

Abstract
The article deals with the question of envy, the sad passion for excellence, and connects it to the experience of film spectatorship, denying the possibility of a envious spectator. The chance of this connection passes through two assumptions: first, the link, not only etymological, between envy and vision, that in the thought of Jacques Lacan necessarily leads to the theme of narcissism; secondly, the identification between spectator and character, that wears the mask of “ego ideal”.File in questo prodotto:
