Da Bonaparte ai Savoia: la difesa di Roma dal Tevere 1811-1925

The text reports a critical investigation related to the jobs conducted along the Tiber 150 years ago, with comments on the constructive techniques and the choices adopted. Therefore, this article has brought forward the debate that, immediately after the Italian unification, developed in Rome; moment in which, also following the proposals and the suggestions already brought on during the Napoleonic occupation, the different possibilities were examined and incisive decisions on the physiognomy of the historic city center were assumed. Through the critical lecture of the different cultural reasons held on from the protagonists of that time, shows up the motivations that have brought to the choices operated and focuses on the technical abilities exercised for the realization of this operation.

Il testo riporta una indagine storico-critica relativa ai lavori condotti lungo il fiume Tevere 150 anni fa, con particolare riguardo alle tecniche costruttive e alle scelte progettuali che sono state assunte. In particolare questo contributo riporta l’attenzione sul dibattito culturale che, subito dopo l’unità d’Italia, si sviluppò a Roma; momento in cui, anche a seguito delle proposte e dei suggerimenti già portati avanti durante l'occupazione napoleonica, furono esaminate le diverse possibilità e vennero prese decisioni incisive sulla fisionomia del centro storico della città. Attraverso la lettura critica delle diverse posizioni culturali dei protagonisti del tempo, vengono presentate le motivazioni che hanno portato alle scelte adottate soffermandosi poi sulle capacità tecniche messe in atto per la realizzazione di questo intervento.
