This paper considers the relation between Leiris and Bataille and argues that the relation was closer than is often thought. It examines the role of Leiris in the Acéphale secret society, and shows that the theme of secrecy, in its multiple senses, is the organizing principle of Leiris’ work. This requires a reassessment of the role of Leiris in Bataille’s thought and activities.

Abstract
This paper considers the relation between Leiris and Bataille and argues that the relation was closer than is often thought. It examines the role of Leiris in the Acéphale secret society, and shows that the theme of secrecy, in its multiple senses, is the organizing principle of Leiris’ work. This requires a reassessment of the role of Leiris in Bataille’s thought and activities.File in questo prodotto:
