Globalità, cultura e fine della modernità

The essay deals with the field of tension between universality and difference – or globality and culture – with the aim to rethink the notion of modernity after the breakdown of the heuristic efficacy of the diagnoses on the “end of Modernity” (J.-F. Lyotard). In this context, the author examines J. Habermas’ and A. Sen’s theories on the relationship between the intercultural feature of contemporary societies and the language of universalism.

Il saggio affronta il campo di tensione tra universalità e differenza – o tra globalità e cultura – sullo sfondo di una ricognizione e di un ripensamento della nozione di modernità dopo l’esaurimento dell’efficacia euristica delle diagnosi sulla “fine del Moderno” (J.-F. Lyotard). In questo contesto l’autrice prende in esame le posizioni di J. Habermas e Amartya Sen in merito alle relazioni tra lo statuto interculturale delle società contemporanee e il linguaggio dell’universalismo.
