The research reconstructs an overview of the banking system in the Province of Rome, by following the evolution in the fifty years between 1870 and 1900 of the 20s, under the terms of the types of intermediaries and their geographical distribution in the 5 districts of the province. The analysis of the historical series highlights the main points in the process of widening of banking services in reality less and less peripheral, which increased significantly in the first half of the '20s, in particular as a consequence of the development of banking institutions of regional dimension.
