The present paper shows an application of Particle Swarm Optimization (P.S.O.) to load flow optimization of electric power systems. The P.S.O. performances optimizing the non-linear load flow problem have been validated and compared both versus alternative optimizers, such as Genetic Algorithms. A Particle Swarm Approach (P.S.A) has been implemented also to simply solve the load flow problem as an alternative to classical non-optimizer solvers, such as Newton Raphson and Gauss-Seidel method.
