In this paper, we present a two-dimensional finite element able to describe local effects in the linear analysis of periodic brickwork, modelled as a Lagrangean system of rigid bodies interacting by point elastic interfaces. Particular emphasis is given to the description and the implications of the continuum modelling of the Lagrangean system, before the finite element discretization is performed.

Abstract
In this paper, we present a two-dimensional finite element able to describe local effects in the linear analysis of periodic brickwork, modelled as a Lagrangean system of rigid bodies interacting by point elastic interfaces. Particular emphasis is given to the description and the implications of the continuum modelling of the Lagrangean system, before the finite element discretization is performed.File in questo prodotto:
