The cartonnages discovered in the necropolis of Al Hibah are a very important source of literary papyri of Ptolemaic age. Besides their philological importance, those papyri are extremely interesting for palaeography and history of culture as well, since they show evidences of very different typologies of handwritings, whose examination can give useful suggestions for a better understanding of the characteristics of book production in the very beginning of the Ptolemaic age.
