Despite the widely held view to the contrary, ll. 1037-50 from the parabasis of Aristophanes' Wasps (description of a contest between Aristophanes and both "Fevers and Shivers") must be related with the failure of lost First Clouds (Dionysia 423). Starting from both the content of these lines and the information preserved in passages of Aristophanes' Second Clouds probably derived from the first edition of the play, it is possible to theorise on First Clouds, whose content should have been very different from the preserved revision.

Abstract
Despite the widely held view to the contrary, ll. 1037-50 from the parabasis of Aristophanes' Wasps (description of a contest between Aristophanes and both "Fevers and Shivers") must be related with the failure of lost First Clouds (Dionysia 423). Starting from both the content of these lines and the information preserved in passages of Aristophanes' Second Clouds probably derived from the first edition of the play, it is possible to theorise on First Clouds, whose content should have been very different from the preserved revision.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
