This paper emphasises the importance of reconstructing the internal architecture of volcanic successions, by defining the hierarchy of the internal unconformities at different scales and the facies associations. Case studies are presented from the ca. 300 Ka, White Trachitic Tuff of Cupa Ignimbrites from Roccamonfina Volcano (Italy), from the 1980 Ignimbrites of Mt St Helens (Washington, USA), and from the 1993 Ignimbrite of Lascar Volcano (Chile).

Abstract
This paper emphasises the importance of reconstructing the internal architecture of volcanic successions, by defining the hierarchy of the internal unconformities at different scales and the facies associations. Case studies are presented from the ca. 300 Ka, White Trachitic Tuff of Cupa Ignimbrites from Roccamonfina Volcano (Italy), from the 1980 Ignimbrites of Mt St Helens (Washington, USA), and from the 1993 Ignimbrite of Lascar Volcano (Chile).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
