Portuguese is a Romance language, sharing many similarities with the Italian language at the various linguistic levels. For this reason it is believed that students whose mother tongue is Italian, even if beginners, find it easy to perform a simple translation from Portuguese into Italian. However, the data show that several mistakes are due to a mot à mot approach. In order to improve the approach to translation and to solve the most frequent problems, we propose a very effective tool and methodology: the Intercomprehension (IC) and its application in the teaching practice through the methodology Eurom5.

Abstract
Portuguese is a Romance language, sharing many similarities with the Italian language at the various linguistic levels. For this reason it is believed that students whose mother tongue is Italian, even if beginners, find it easy to perform a simple translation from Portuguese into Italian. However, the data show that several mistakes are due to a mot à mot approach. In order to improve the approach to translation and to solve the most frequent problems, we propose a very effective tool and methodology: the Intercomprehension (IC) and its application in the teaching practice through the methodology Eurom5.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
