The book is divided in introduction, 14 chapters, bibliography and indices. About 70 % of the book is dedicated to the rock necropoleis and tombs in the inner part of Southern Etruria and their most important aspects such as distribution, typology, chronology, decorations, history of research ecc. The last part of the book is dealing with the phenomenon of rock tombs and rock architecture in Asia Minor, Near East, Persina, Northern Africa ecc.
Il libro è diviso in prefazione, introduzione, 14 capitoli, bibliografia e indici. Due terzi del libro sono dedicati alle necropoli e tombe rupestri dell'Etruria meridionale interna e i loro aspetti più importanti (come diffusione, tipologia, cronologia, decorazioni, storia delle scoperte e ricerche ecc.), l'ultimo terzo invece al fenomeno di tombe rupestri in Asia Minore, Vicino Oriente, Persia, Africa settentrionale ecc.
