Su alcune forme dell’agire visuale

The article aims at showing how to produce, to use, or to look at images allow to make things in the world, with contextual meanings; that is, how the images perform, or are means for performing, different actions in specific situations. I will describe various examples of actions performed by and through images, while attempting to broaden the current definition of images or, at least , the idea we have of them. In that way, the relations bet ween image and agency, and image and writing , will be considered, with the purpose of finally outlining some significant aspects of the action performed by means of “bodily images” (from gazes to gestures).

Questo articolo intende mostrare come il fabbricare, l’usare o il guardare immagini permettano di fare cose nel mondo, con significati contestuali; cioè come le immagini compiano, o siano mezzo per compiere, azioni diverse in determinate situazioni. Verrà dunque descritta una varietà di esempi di azioni effettuate da e con immagini, mentre, contemporaneamente, si tenterà di ampliare la definizione o almeno l’idea che si ha di queste ultime. In questo modo, verranno attraversate le relazioni tra immagine ed agentività e tra immagine e scrittura, per tratteggiare infine alcuni aspetti rilevanti dell’agire compiuto mediante “immagini corporee” (dagli sguardi ai gesti).
