In our analysis, we intend to illustrate the influence of the tradition of the specula principum on the Erasmus Roterodamus’ Institu-tio principis christiani. In this work, Erasmus develops education-al schemes and topics of this tradition, strongly linked to a Platon-ic pattern of virtue, but he introduces proper elements of the Aris-totelian tradition, pointing out a new focus on concepts such as common good and political virtue. The result is an interesting and problematic synthesis, full of pedagogical suggestions.

Abstract
