Abstract

Urban mobility indicators are of great importance in establishing the travel behavior's aspects as well as in the planning process, where complex analyses of the transport system are required. The data is very important in this area and the GPS technology has proved very useful and reliable in the collection process. The study was conducted in the Cluj-Napoca urban area with the aid of a GPS based urban mobility management system using five test vehicles. The analysis is focused on determining the main specific indicators of the urban mobility as well as new insights into travel behavior. In conclusion it was highlighted that both the socio-economic characteristics of the drivers and the traffic conditions have a major impact on the road user behavior.
