This article begins with a review of the critique Dom Deschamps addresses to Spinoza in La réfutation simple et courte and in Le Vrai système. It then returns to the Deschampsian concepts of part, of the Whole, and Whole as used in this critique. From this foundation, it finally analyzes the relationship between these concepts and the Spinozist ideas of “unique substance” and “modified substance”. In this way, it examines the meaning of Deschamps’ supposed anti-Spinozism.

Abstract
This article begins with a review of the critique Dom Deschamps addresses to Spinoza in La réfutation simple et courte and in Le Vrai système. It then returns to the Deschampsian concepts of part, of the Whole, and Whole as used in this critique. From this foundation, it finally analyzes the relationship between these concepts and the Spinozist ideas of “unique substance” and “modified substance”. In this way, it examines the meaning of Deschamps’ supposed anti-Spinozism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
