In his writings, Nietzsche repeatedly uses the expression “second nature”, and over a vast span of time. What makes the Nietzschean use of this term very interesting is that a substantial part of its occurrences is characterized by a dialectical juxtaposition between a “first” and a “second nature.” This article presents a reconstruction of Nietzsche’s reflection on “second nature,” in which we attempt to demonstrate that there is a clear understanding of some aspects of the classical and modern Philosophies of Habit, as well as a critique of the positive role attributed to habit by Anglo- Saxon empiricist philosophy.

Abstract
In his writings, Nietzsche repeatedly uses the expression “second nature”, and over a vast span of time. What makes the Nietzschean use of this term very interesting is that a substantial part of its occurrences is characterized by a dialectical juxtaposition between a “first” and a “second nature.” This article presents a reconstruction of Nietzsche’s reflection on “second nature,” in which we attempt to demonstrate that there is a clear understanding of some aspects of the classical and modern Philosophies of Habit, as well as a critique of the positive role attributed to habit by Anglo- Saxon empiricist philosophy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
