The start of the restauration work on the Church of San Francesco del Prato in Parma This article describes the start of the restauration work on the Church of San Francesco del Prato in Parma. This monument, an impressive 14th century Franciscan church, one of the most distinguished churches in Italy, has been used as a prison for two century and for this reason it radically changed its architectonical configuration. The project provides the restauration of the original function and the recovery of the most mature facies without hiding the following modifications. Now the structural consolidation of building’s foundation has been carried out and the scaffolding, that will be used for the roof consolidation, has been installed.

L’articolo descrive l’avvio dei lavori di restauro, attesi da tanti anni, della Chiesa di San Francesco del Prato a Parma. Il monumento, un imponente chiesa francescana del Trecento tra le più insigni d’Italia, per quasi due secoli era stata adibita a carcere subendo trasformazioni che ne avevano alterato pesantemente l’assetto architettonico. Il progetto di restauro prevede il ritorno alla funzione originaria ed il ripristino dello della facies più matura senza però occultare completamente i segni delle manomissioni successive. Allo stato attuale sono stati eseguiti i consolidamenti fondali ed il montaggio delle impalcature interne per gli interventi strutturali sui tetti.
