The essay analyzes the travels that Pasolini made between the late Fifties and early Sixties, in the guise of an eccentric reporter, able to weave various media (the press and the cinema) and take on various roles: journalist, poet, filmmaker. From his reporting on the Italian beaches (La lunga strada di sabbia) to the investigation of the sexual customs of the Italians (Comizi d’amore), the Pasolini journeys testify to the activation of an anthropological gaze that, through the direct experience of the places and the bodies, confronts the modernization processes of the country.
