Le destin d’une communauté méditerranéenne. Les mémoires privées des juifs libyens

L’exode juif de la Libye en 1967, à la suite d’une violente attaque des nationalistes arabes, marque la dispersion d’une des communautés de mizrahim les plus anciennes de la Méditerranée. L’arrivée à Rome de milliers de réfugiés juifs provenant de l’ancienne colonie de Libye fit revivre aux italiens le souvenir refoulé de son passé colonial. Sur la base de sources inédites, à savoir les interviews avec certains membres de la communauté juive tripolitaine en Italie, cette recherche vise à analyser les ambivalences du processus postcolonial libyen fluctuant entre position philo-occidentale et propagande nassérienne à travers la loupe des rapports entre les juifs, les anciens colonisateurs italiens et la majorité arabe. The Jewish exodus from Libya in 1967, following a violent attack by the Arab nationalists, caused the dispersal of one of the oldest mizrahim communities in the Mediterranean. The arrival in Rome of thousands of Jewish refugees from the former Italian colony of Libya brought back to the awareness the repressed memory of the Italian colonial past. On the basis of unpublished sources, namely some interviews with members of the Tripolitan Jewish community in Italy, this research aims to analyze the ambivalences of the Libyan postcolonial process, fluctuating between the philo-western stance and Nasserite propaganda, in the light of relations between Jews, former Italian colonizers and Arab majority.
