La citazione in cancelleria. Il comune di Roma nel Medioevo

This article discusses a type of source, which is not much used from the point of view citations, yet particularly rich in this sense: the public documents issued by the municipality of Rome (or Senate) between the twelfth and the fourteenth centuries. Commenting on the citations that emerge from these acts (passages from Cassiodorus, Richard of Pofi, Pier delle Vigne), this essay reconstructs some writings and documentary practices of the Roman chancery; it reveals the presence of certain manuscripts within these environments, and eventually reflects on the methodological potentialities of this kind of research.

L’articolo discute una tipologia di fonti non molto praticata dal punto di vista della citazione, eppure particolarmente ricca in tal senso: gli atti pubblici emanati dal comune di Roma (il Senato) tra XII e XIV secolo. Discutendo le citazioni che emergono da tali atti (Cassiodoro, Riccardo da Pofi, Pier delle Vigne), il lavoro arriva a ricostruire alcune pratiche scrittorie della cancelleria romana, a individuare la presenza di determinati manoscritti all’interno di questi ambienti, nonché a ragionare sulle potenzialità metodologiche di una simile ricerca.
