Abstract
During the 60's, Carl Rogers begins to shape his thoughts on the development of the self in human nature. In subsequent periods, he comes to develop a composite theory of personality, supported by empirical evidences, which focuses on some basic conditions (unconditional acceptance, empathy and congruence) defined as "necessary" for the full development of the implicit potentialities in human being. Institutions responsible for the educational transmission of social values did welcome the proposal of Rogers with a generalized mistrust and a widespread fear. The article shall concern mainly the comparison between the proposed development of the human Self in Rogerian perspective, and the concept of education as a container of standards, charges and prohibitions transmitted implicitly by processes of inculturation in which families participate uncon-sciously. In reporting the educational models hindering the natural development and empowerment of the individual, the article shall stress the so-called "black pedagogy" formulated by Alice Miller.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
