The paper takes a close look at Giuseppe Ungaretti's 1971 translation of Francis Ponge's text Le pré, a work famous both for its richness and its genesis, transformed into a legend thanks to the superfetation of La fabrique du pré. Despite some possible objections, the Italian poet's intervention, even after almost half a century, remains an example of profound critical attention.
