Aim of the essay is to propose a survey of the methodological approaches used for the analysis and interpretation of contemporary serial narrative as ‘complex’ experiences. The essay starts from some of the main existing models of analysis, recalling some of the more important moments of the study of television series from the last 20 years. These methodol-ogies are addressed through the broader framework of the study of narrative, and how the narrative act relates itself with the configuration of imaginaries in contemporary scenarios. The essay hence proposes a new articulation of the idea of ‘complexity’ as associated with serial narratives, as it is connected with the forms of experience configuration for fragmented and scattered subjectivities in contemporary world. The cultural approach is also consid-ered, as well as the industrial-economic background for narrative production, and its forms, styles and technologies. After the discussion of the main characteristics of serial narratives, the essay addresses their differences, in order to depict a potential ‘cartography’ of its main types, without considering it either final nor complete.

Abstract
After the discussion of the main characteristics of serial narratives, the essay addresses their differences, in order to depict a potential ‘cartography’ of its main types, without considering it either final nor complete.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
