Written by Antonio Valeriano in 1556, the Nican mopohua is the first narrative surrounding the Tepeyac apparitions, reflecting the nahuatl concept in the service of the message of Guadalupe. An archive of a dual cultural identity, the work merges and blends the nahuatl cogito with the evangelical message in such a way that the pagan Logos could become the Verbum of the New God. The aim of this study is to show how the Guadalupanian tale can be considered a strange variety of the Baroque, through an analysis of border rhetoric of the juxtaposition between Christianity and the ancient nahuatl religion. El Nican mopohua, primera narración sobre las apariciones del Tepeyac escrita por el noble indígena Antonio Valeriano en 1556, refleja la concepción filosófica náhuatl al servicio del mensaje guadalupano. Depositario de una doble herencia cultural, el manuscrito sobrepone y mezcla el cogito náhuatl con el evangelio cristiano para que el Logos pagano se haga vehículo del Verbum del nuevo Dios. Objetivo de nuestro trabajo es demostrar por qué el relato guadalupano se puede clasificar como una extraña variedad de barroco a través del análisis de la retórica fronteriza de la yuxtaposición entre el cristianismo y la antigua religión azteca. Encuentro de dos diferentes horizontes representacionales, el Nican mopohua es el primer producto literario de la mexicanidad, de una identidad sincrética que nace de la fusión de dos raíces insertadas, una en la otra, y entrega a la Nueva España su primer texto sagrado autóctono, su nuevo evangelio mexicano.
