The essay analyses legal implications of the so-called Belt and Road Initiative promoted by Chinese leadership. Are to be expected any substantial changes in international trade laws and practice as a consequence of the Belt and Road Initiative? The Europeans companies that decide to invest in BRI Projects should be prepared to follow a different “rules of game”? The article try to answer to such questions taking into account three main aspects: i) the contents of the “BRI legal system”; ii) the issue of dispute resolution methods; iii) and the development of the Chinese legal system from a historical and comparative perspective as a consequence of such Initiative.
