The twofold line of reform that Pope Francis has undertaken, that is, the synodal perspective in the Church and the renewal of the sacred sciences, re-proposes the problem of the accord between theology and canon law. The converging efforts of theologians and canonists should be aimed at preparing and legitimizing change in the Church in a coherent way.
