ABSTRACT All over Europe, France is at the forefront in the pursuit of important goals in energy transition. The Greater Lyon Authority Agenda offers a major insight of such process since the eighties of the XXeth Century, displaying a wide array of tools and practices conveying different yet connected sustainability issues. A non-secondary aspect of such awareness at all levels of government and public sector is to be attributed to the globalization challenges and international competition with other cities ranking as Lyon. Ever since, liveability and a thriving environment for people and businesses have played a key role in prompting sustainability paths shared by elected representatives, executives and professionals.
