The production and supply of conventional energy have always contributed to the transformation and characterization of the landscape, with not always positive effects. This way of exploitation has been experienced for a long time without giving priority to the infrastructure instead of quality of landscape. In France, the 20th anniversary of the Landscape Law coincides with the national debate on energy transition. It is desirable, therefore, that, in the light of this debate, the planning of renewable energy production devices contribute to the design of new landscapes. The contribution presents the French energy transition experience, with a specific focus on the Rhône-Alpes Region, in terms of integration of policies and different levels of planning tools. This approach is proving to bridge, actively and with a proper financial support, energy demands, natural resources and community participation.
