Immortalità dell’anima: la posizione di Francesco d’Appignano all’interno del dibattito francescano tra il XIII e il XIV secolo

The article presents the position of Francis of Marchia on the immortality of the soul, placing it in the context of the Franciscan debate between the end of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century. It highlights not only the relationship between the Marchia’s view and that of John Duns Scotus, but also the way in which Marchia dealt with both that which was claimed by the Franciscan authors of the second half of the 13th century, and the new arguments in favor of immortality, proposed by Peter Auriol. Thus, through the reconstruction of Francis of Marchia's position on the immortality of the soul, it is possible to observe that, although the doctrine of Duns Scotus was of great impact on the Franciscan environment of the first half of the 14th century, this did not prevent the existence of a certain plurality of opinions and attitudes, even quite different from those assumed by Scotus.

Questo articolo presenta la posizione di Francesco della Marca sull’immortalità dell’anima, collocandola nel contesto del dibattito francescano compiutosi tra la fine del XIII e l’inizio del XIV secolo. Esso mette in luce non solo la relazione tra la concezione di Francesco della Marca e quella Giovanni Duns Scoto, ma anche il modo in cui Frances co si è confrontato sia con quanto sostenuto dagli autori francescani della seconda metà del XIII secolo, sia con i nuovi argomenti a favore dell’immortalità formulati da Pietro Aureolo. Così, attraverso la ricostruzione della posizione di Francesco della Marca sull’immortalità dell’anima, è possibile osservare che, sebbene la dottrina di Duns Scoto sia risultata di grande impatto sull’ambiente francescano della prima metà del XIV scolo, ciò non ha impedito l’esistenza di una certa pluralità di opinioni e d i atteggiamenti, anche piuttosto diversi da quelli assunti da Scoto
