“Return of the Hill” is the courageous project that Atelier Scale signs in opposition to the excavation of the hill system required by real estate developers for the new Yuhu apartments district in Chongqing in China. In a collaborative logic with the existing nature without betraying the settlement objectives, the new project assumes the existing landscape as a guiding principle and dialogues with the severe difference in height by inserting the residences in the landscape. This evokes the dense forests of metasequoies in memory, enhance their beauty through suggestive walkways between the peaks, while in the valley it places all the attractive and fruition functions.
