The contribution focuses on topics on the skills of kindergarten teachers with respect to teaching music. These issues are addressed in a historical dimension that sees the changing role of music pedagogies, exploring and gathering inspiration for new models of teaching and learning music from Italian voices. We present a case study created within the Department of Education of the University of Rome TRE. The presented Atelier model represents a learning path that can be transferred to kindergarten teachers called to the pedagogy of music. The analysis of the literature and the presentation of the case allow to bring to light the need to train in the crucial skills of the individual human resources involved, even at the organizational level of the school system. The conclusions reached make it possible to highlight the need to activate projects and interventions that can innovate and encourage the teaching and study of music in Italian schools.
