The issue concerning the thing and the related meditation on technology are indeed key topics both for Bloch and Heidegger. Taking its cue from Bloch’s remarks on Heidegger’s philosophy, the paper addresses Heidegger’s 1949 conference entitled “The thing,” in order to emphasise the crucial aspects that connect the phenomenology of the thing to the question concerning technology, by stressing the relationship between thing and world in terms of use. The intertwining of use, releasement, and dwelling that comes up in Heidegger’s late phenomenology – devoted to the inapparent, which is grasped in the things that hold the fourfold world together – outlines an ethical path beyond the scope of the autonomy of the sovereign subject, in which liberty and dependency, as well as dwelling and using, are considered in unique meditation.

Abstract
The issue concerning the thing and the related meditation on technology are indeed key topics both for Bloch and Heidegger. Taking its cue from Bloch’s remarks on Heidegger’s philosophy, the paper addresses Heidegger’s 1949 conference entitled “The thing,” in order to emphasise the crucial aspects that connect the phenomenology of the thing to the question concerning technology, by stressing the relationship between thing and world in terms of use. The intertwining of use, releasement, and dwelling that comes up in Heidegger’s late phenomenology – devoted to the inapparent, which is grasped in the things that hold the fourfold world together – outlines an ethical path beyond the scope of the autonomy of the sovereign subject, in which liberty and dependency, as well as dwelling and using, are considered in unique meditation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
