The aim of this paper is to undertake a reflection on the caricatural character of Quevedo’s culta latiniparla and her inclusion in No hay burlas con el amor, urban comedy by Calderón de la Barca. Successively, the study will open up to a transnational and intertextual approach linked to the reception outside the Iberian borders of the image of the educated woman who boasts a pompous language. In particular, following a series of critical controversies on the possibility that Molière could have been inspired by this play for his work Les femmes savantes, a contrastive analysis will be carried out to assess the real entity of the Calderonian reverberations in Molière’s text, showing both the points of contact and the discrepancies related to the process of reworking of the cliché of the wise and hembrilatina lady.

Abstract

Con el presente trabajo se pretende acometer una reflexión en torno a la figura caricaturesca de la culta latiniparla de Quevedo y su presencia en No hay burlas con el amor, comedia urbana de Calderón de la Barca. A continuación, el estudio se abrirá a un enfoque de amplitud transnacional y de carácter intertextual vinculado con la recepción fuera de las lindes ibéricas de la imagen de la mujer culta y que alardea de un lenguaje ampuloso. En particular, a raíz de una serie de controversias críticas sobre la posibilidad de que Molière haya podido inspirarse en esta pieza para su obra Les femmes savantes, se llevará a cabo un análisis contrastivo para valorar la real entidad de las reverberaciones calderonianas en el texto de Molière, señalando a la vez los puntos de contacto y las desviaciones que atienden al proceso de reelaboración del tópico de la mujer sabia y hembrilatina.
